VICTORIA, BC, Oct. 13, 2026 /CNW/ -- On World Mental Health Day (October 10, 2026), BC Place, Victoria Parliament Buildings, Burrard Street Bridge, and Vancouver City Hall lit up in green, the colour associated with mental health around the world. This initiative by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) marked the start of their month-long outdoor campaign to promote mental health awareness across BC.

This year, the association's campaign, which is currently live in select transit shelters in Victoria and Prince George, SkyTrain stations in Vancouver, and at the Kelowna Airport, is aimed at increasing awareness of the importance of mental health, reducing stigmas around access, and encouraging the public to find the right counsellor to support them. The posters at each of these locations have unique QR codes that will take them to the Find a Counsellor (FAC) tool, a public resource developed by the BCACC to help individuals find the counsellor aligned to their unique needs.
BCACC CEO Michael Radano says, "World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to remind British Columbians to prioritise their mental well-being and seek help from a qualified professional. We are very grateful to the authorities for accepting our illumination requests and helping us mark this important day. As the demand for quality mental health services continues to rise across the province, we hope our month-long campaign helps more people use our resources and find the support they are looking for."
How the Find a Counsellor (FAC) tool works:
BCACC's Find a Counsellor (FAC) tool helps individuals connect with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who aligns with their unique needs, preferences and circumstances. With a range of search filters, users can narrow their search by factors such as location, areas of practice and other relevant criteria, making it easier to identify a counsellor who is the right fit for them. By simplifying the search process and helping people explore qualified professionals based on their specific needs, the tool supports more informed decisions and makes taking the first step toward mental health support more accessible.

The BCACC's mental health awareness outdoor campaign will run until November 10, 2026.
